Oil boilers usually warn you before they fail. If your boiler is showing any of these signs, our Dublin engineers can repair it fast, often the same week.
The boiler has locked out and won’t start. Common causes are a dirty nozzle, a faulty photocell, an ignition fault or no oil getting through to the burner.
Your boiler fires then stops, or locks out again after a reset. Usually a clogged filter, air in the oil line, or an overheating fault.
Banging, gurgling or kettling sounds usually mean sludge in the system, trapped air or a burner that needs adjusting.
An oil or smoky smell, or a yellow flame instead of blue, points to incomplete combustion or a leak. Turn the boiler off and call an engineer.
Radiators cold or no hot water, even though the boiler seems on? The fault is often the pump, thermostat, a valve or the burner itself.
Using more oil for the same heat usually means the boiler is running inefficiently, often from soot build-up, a worn nozzle or a burner out of tune.
Not every oil boiler needs replacing. If the motor and body are sound and the fault is a worn part, a repair is usually the cheaper fix. Most oil boilers last around 15 years, so once yours is past that, or breaking down often, replacement starts to make more sense.
